Minimum Wage Woes

There are signs that congressional leaders are feeling pressure to change their skewed priorities.[on raising the 5.15 minimum wage] After the Senate rejected an increase in June, House Majority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, was asked whether he'd let a minimum-wage bill come to the House floor. "Probably not," he replied. Asked again last week, after 28 House Republicans sent him a letter demanding action, he changed signals.

"We are chatting about it," he said.

Nice.

That's all they freakin' do about anything is "chat". Did they just chat about thier own raises? Hell no, they did something about that fast.

I'm sure they'd rather bring up a proposal to eliminate it altogether-but they have to do a little pandering now. It's an election year, after all.

Well, if they allow a minimum wage increase, then perhaps their illegal immigrant house keepers might expect, nay, DEMAND, a raise, and then where would they be?

When the cost of living goes up and your wages do not, that is a pay cut. Every year your pay buys less and less. That is a pay cut. Why don't these idiots see that?

*snark*

and welcome, Jollyroger, to my campfire. I think they'd abolish it if they dared, but they're going down the drain right now.

Hey POP, it's important to them that they have the ching so they're able to go to all those hoity toity fund raisers. Wouldn't want to look like po' folk when they're begging corporations to buy their ass, now would they? *heh*

Hey Divajood,
Really - those scut workers might get the wrong idea - that they're actually humans who deserve a living wage, rather than mud people.

Hey Alicia,
Oh, they know - they just don't think we're smart enough to figure out why more stuff goes on the credit card every year - and doesn't get paid off! That's why they are messing with all the official economic stats, so they can cover their ass over the economy which is going straight into the shitter.
