The Waking of the Sheeple

The People are finally waking up! My question is why did it take so long, and after all that this administration has done to beat us down, why was it illegal immigration?? Are all us whities too scared of Bushco's shadow?

Meanwhile, Bushco's suggestion that we give the illegals here "guest passes" smacks of exploitation ~ of the illegal worker, the workers who patiently stand in line and come here legally, and of the american taxpayers, who have to pay for the doctor bills, the education, and the police, fire, roads, and every other piece of infrastructure that illegal workers and the companies that hire them do not contribute to.

Since they are fired up about this, perhaps they will continue to be fired up. I hope so, by golly!
I also agree that the "guest passes" are more for exploitation than to help the workers.
Those rich folk want to be able to hire these illegal workers for a pittance. shrub wants to help keep that possible.

So what do you make of all the student walk out's? It kind of reminds me of Berkeley when I was in Junior High - lots of sincere political activity. These High School students seem very opinionated about all this. One girl said the whole thing was being coordinated via the internet – and on a moments notice. I guess teenagers are blogging about things other than who's dating whom!

Didn't they have some kind of internet instant meeting thing going on last decade?? They would all show up on a street corner, dance to a couple of songs, and just as quickly disappear. I was thinking that would be a great way to do free speech these days - without warning, just long enough to make an impression, then gone before the jackboots can interfere.

We heard someone say on the radio that having illegals work with guest passes is like having a workforce that does not vote. Sounds just like something Bushco would LOVE!

If someone isn't one hundred percent Native American, they have no right to bar others from coming here.

Hey RD, I heard on Lou Dobbs last night that 80% of these jobs that they say americans don't want, are actually being done right now by americans. That means the vast majority of those jobs are not unwanted. They are just underpaid. So, they try to create an underclass that has no say in the society that they are working in.

Good Morning, and welcome, Kathleen Callon, to my campfire.

I totally agree with you that the early history of the United States was marked by grave injustice and genocide. But that was 230 years ago, and we live in a radically different world now.

No country can survive without control of it's borders, (especially when it's leaders are running around the world throwing bombs, breaking things, and killing people).

Control of the Boarders and the enforcement of the laws of the land are not small issues. When politicians manipulate the laws of a country to the profit of big business over the wellbeing of it's citizens, it's another injustice piled on top of the dung that this administration has shoveled thru congress in the guise of new programs.

I have no problem with legal immigration. Our immigrant population is hard working, smart, and mostly honest, just like most americans. The politicians are twisting this issue - wringing it to get the most advantage for their rich lobbying cronies. In the process they risk creating a wage slave underclass UNDER the lowest we have now. Instead of building up, they are further reducing and looting humanity's potential, and dragging us all down in the process.
